Using pure aluminum as a model system, the research investigates how multifrequency ultrasonic treatment (UST) can fragment and disperse oxides throughout the melt. These dispersed oxides are being studied for their potential to act as nucleation sites, with possible implications for grain refinement and mechanical properties.
