To convince you of the excellent quality of ELTRA elemental analyzers we offer you a free application consultation as well as free test measurements of your sample in our application laboratory.
To be able to offer you the best possible solution for your material we kindly ask you to answer the following questions in great detail. If you would like to supply more than 5 samples, please not this in the “Remarks” field, we will review it and contact you.
After submitting your request, you will receive a PDF copy of your request along with confirmation of receipt. Our team will then carefully review your request and evaluate your application request. Please note that submitting a request does not automatically guarantee that the service can be provided. An ELTRA representative will contact you after the review. If any questions remain, your contact person will clarify them with you directly. When all details are clear, you will receive instructions on how to safely send your samples to our laboratory.
Before submitting you request
Hazardous samples
Before sending hazardous samples to ELTRA please ask for confirmation with your ELTRA representative.
When a substance is labelled as…
- Explosive
- Cancerogenic / toxic when inhaled or swallowed
- Radioactive
…an elemental analysis at ELTRA is in general not possible. In addition, ELTRA must consider the chemical behavior of the sample during combustion in the requested analyzer and subsequent disposal of the sample. If analysis is feasible, please note that processing potentially hazardous samples requires additional time, as the laboratory must be reserved and secured exclusively for such analyses.
Sample preparation
ELTRA recommends sending the samples “prepared for analysis” to Haan. In some cases, additional preparation may be required (reduction of size, homogenization) for correct analysis. A suitable preparation may not be possible at Haan, especially when hazardous samples (e.g. slag of lead) must be reduced in size or chemicals (e.g. HF containing prickle solution for titanium analysis) must be applied.
Recommended number of samples / sample weights
The application laboratory in Haan is operated by the ELTRA salespeople and product manager. A free of charge analysis should demonstrate whether an analyzer is suitable for the requested application. Depending on the requested analysis, a minimum of sample weight is required:
| Analyzer | Typical application | Recommended sample weight |
|---|---|---|
| CN-r | Food, plants, fertilizer, coal, soil | 5 – 20 g |
| CS-i | Metals, ores, ceramics | 5 – 10 g |
| CS-r; CHS-r, CS-580A | Fuels, ores, ceramics | 5 – 10 g |
| CS 580 A | Soil, waste | 10 – 20 g |
| TIC Module | TIC analysis | 5 – 10 g |
| ONH-ps | ONH measurement in metals, ceramics | 5 – 10 g |
| ONH-p | ON or OH measurement in various sample | 5 – 10 g (ON or OH measurement) 10 – 20 g (ON and OH measurement) |
| TGA | Moisture, ash, volatile in various samples | 20 – 50 g |
| H-r | Diffusible, total hydrogen samples | 3 – 5 samples with a minimum weight of 1 g |
| CW 800 M | Moisture, CO2; TOC400 analysis | 5 – 10 g Welding powder: 20 g |
| SC 800 | Surface carbon | 3 – 5 samples with a suitable sample size |
